Central Asia: A View from the Inside
The Stan Information Video Portal first went live on March 1st, 2007. We call it Stan because the portal carries news from all 5 Central Asia states which share this in their names (Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan). Of course the people of this region are also united by common history and culture.
We present only our own news. Through our wide network of reporters in the major cities of the region (around 50 journalists work in our offices), Stan can bring you the latest information on all the most important events in Central Asia.
New reports appear on the site every day. As well as the newswire, we also have sections for Personal Opinion, Topical Issues and Interviews, where experts in politics, history and culture share their opinions on the region’s events. The fascinating lives of the region’s people are showcased through in-depth reports in the AsiaSTAN section.
The Stan Portal is different because we present the news in video – we know that a picture is worth a thousand words. These video services are what make us unique in the region. Since December 2007 Stan visitors have been able to watch our broadcasts live, by clicking on the Stan TV: On-Line button, or to save time you can simply watch the latest bulletins, pre-recorded and stored on our server.
Additionally, those visitors with a fast Internet connection (200 Kb/s), can use our more advanced service: the Personal Bulletin. With its help, you can create your own play list from our videos.
An optimum viewing experience is possible via both high speed Internet connections (above 200 Kb/s) and dial-up Internet (64 Kb/s). You can also sign-up to receive our news by email – bulletins are delivered daily in full, in text-only or HTML versions.
We are interested in what you think of our Video Portal! Send us your comments on the website in general, or on specific reports, at info@stan.tv, or via the special Feedback form on the Contacts page.
Watch us, talk to us and spread the news!
