Malevich, Kandinsky and Falk. For the first time ever Bishkek is hosting an exhibition of avant-garde classics. Kyrgyzstan’s art enthusiasts are finally able to enjoy twenty originals created by the pioneers of suprematism, cubism and neo-primitivism. The capital’s Fine Arts Museum was packed for the occasion and even the country’s Culture Minister and a professional playwright Sultan Raev made an appearance, noting that his works is very close in spirit to the creations of the presented avant-garde masters.

The audience is in for a pleasant surprise. A Bavarian quintet on tour in Kyrgyzstan is masterfully mixing all possible styles of music, from baroque to jazz. The band likes to call itself a union of Munich brass players. It was formed 10 years ago and now the musicians are touring the world with concerts. This one in Bishkek will end their current Central Asia marathon. The quintet’s unorthodox approach to concerts became apparent immediately.

Kyrgyz filmmaker Ernest Abduijaparov is filming a nightclub scene for his new project “A Thief in Love.” In this, his third production, director combines elements of a romantic drama, sci-fi, and action. The director describes his film as a fantasy-action, in which a cruel criminal, who has destroyed lives of many people, is given another chance. Improvisation is extensively used in the project.

Reina Chokoeva, honored artist of USSR is celebrating her 70th anniversary. She has attended a dance club during the Soviet times in former Frunze, current Bishkek. Later she entered choreographic college in St. Petersburg, where she was taught by well known ballet artists. Reina Chokoeva decided to teach choreography in Bishkek college around 30 years ago. Today her students dance on the stages of different countries. However she was not forgotten in her own theater, which has organized the celebration of her anniversary.
